New country and a new male model photoshoot for the books!
Ten days after arriving in Tbilisi I had my first photoshoot. As usual, I fired up my 2 biggest tools for finding male models - Instagram and Grindr. In this case, trusty Grindr came through like a champ. I always try to do photoshoots whenever I go to a new country, but it doesn't always work out, even with my best tools. Though I've traveled to more, Georgia makes the 26th country I've had a proper photoshoot.
Jaba and I met a couple days prior to the shoot to discuss and just meet face to face and get to know one another a bit. On the day of the shoot we had pretty shit weather - it was cloudy, cool and breezy with occasional sprinkles of rain. Not ideal, but we gave it a go. We started at the old Soviet aquatic complex, Laguna Vere. It's long since closed and fallen into a state of dilapidation and urban decay (if that doesn't get the juices flowing, I don't know what does!). It's private property as well, but when has that ever stopped me? Actually there are times where it absolutely stops me, but I digress. We were only in there for maybe 20 minutes before a security guy came along and started yelling at us and waving his arm for us to GTFO.
We regrouped and reevaluated at a nearby cafe as the rain picked up and then decided to go up to the old fortress ruins overlooking the old part of the city. It was still early enough that once we reached the hilltop fortress, there wasn't a soul to be found. No tourists, no staff, nada. The site is big enough and scattered with enough walls, cliffs, trees and large boulders that shooting risqué shots here was not a problem and it was easy to be discreet. I also got to utilize my then-new drone for some video as well. I hadn't incorporated the drone with anything other than a landmark or landscape, so I was eager to try it out with a person as the focal point.
